Sorry for the reply in English. Thanks for promoting the game here Ignorama. Some screen shots :- forum.nexgam.de/attachment/261…76b084e2d71bdac4d685ad3b9forum.nexgam.de/attachment/261…76b084e2d71bdac4d685ad3b9 The game's development thread on AtariAge has the most recent news.

  • The problem with 7800 emulators and 50/60Hz scrolling (as used in this demo) is that the image often tears which makes it look crap in my opinion. You don't see any tearing on real NTSC or PAL hardware.

  • Sorry about the link problem. It should be fixed now.

  • Thanks for the interest in the eCard. The most recent ProSystem emulator is here :- atariage.com/forums/topic/1242…age__st__125#entry1766481 The version 108 Stars gave the link to is a bit old and buggy.

  • I also enjoyed the Lynx talks as well. The Lynx certainly has some good homebrews coming out for it in the near future. Many thanks to 108 Stars for his guided tour of the new Lynx games. The Lynx has moved up my long list of "machines to do something for" a few positions now ;). Don't get excited because it is a very long list :P. The jag scene is definitely alive and kicking as well. I liked the new venue better than last years. The kitchen and free tea/coffee and cakes where much appreciated.…

  • The XM won't be there this year :(. I don't want to risk going through customs with the prototype and getting stopped or it being damaged in my luggage. Sorry folks! I'll still be there with Star Raiders and my jag mystery game.

  • Thank you for the offer of TVs :D. Please bring them all. sh3-rg needs PAL50 and PAl60 for some games and some modern TVs don't like the 7800. With a good selection of TVs we shouldn't have a problem.

  • True! But its much less fun for attendees because sh3-rg and I are both bringing several systems with new homebrew games.

  • From the UK we need to borrow 5 TVs in total :- sh3-rg : 2 TVs in total. 1 TV already borrowed from Heiko and sh3-rg will bring a 7" LCD from the UK but would like to borrow something bigger if possible. GroovyBee: 2 TVs in total. One for the 7800 and XM and one for the jaguar. omf: 1 TV. He can bring a small portable LCD from the UK but would like to borrow something bigger if possible. We will be bringing SCART cables with us. Thanks in advance to anybody who can help us out.

  • @CD-i: No problem! Whoever helps me out will be first to play the 2 new jag games (or 7800 XM games) I'm bringing ;).

  • Normally we'd bring our own but that is difficult this year. I'm sure sh3-rg will bring more than one jag system and I have the 7800 and jag too. The TVs must have SCART or S-video inputs due to the differences in PAL between the UK and Germany.

  • Is it possible for sh3-rg and I to borrow 3 or 4 TVs?

Zitat von Gähnende Leere: „[OIDS!“ Yep! Oids would be a good game to adapt to the Jaguar.

You wouldn't emulate that functionality with the GPU. The jag's GPU is good but not that good :P. You'd need to look at that code and replace it with equivalent jag hardware functionality. That could mean using the Object Processor, Blitter, DSP…

I had an ST back in the day so that is why I chose an ST game to port to the jaguar. I picked Star Raiders as the game because the source code was already available on AtariAge and I didn't have to spend any time setting up an ST emulator and tools before reverse engineering a game binary into a working listing. Starting from existing source was the quickest way to get to the interesting part (to me) which was getting the game's display on the jag in the right colours at a good speed.

  • Zitat von Timmay: „20 lvl's ? sounds like a game that ain’t a puzzler. You are not talking about a pairs game with 20 predefined levels don’t you? Just kidding, sounds really good, I'm looking forward to it!“ Its not a matching pairs game. Hopefully I'll get some more time to spend on the game in the coming months.

  • Zitat von Timmay: „GroovyBee , I have already seen a few of your projects like the voxel engine. Do you have some more surprises in store? What do they look like? Have you tried out the raptor engine?“ Plenty of surprises ;). I have a jag game that is around 50% done and about 20 levels designed. If eJagFest was a bit later in the year then it could have been demoed there. The game needs a large amount of new graphics but the logic and AI code is pretty much done (but some of it needs optimising…

  • Zitat von CD-i: „If you want, you can send me the rom/cof and i can show it on jagfest. won't pass the rom to others, just to show the public your WIP game :)“ Thank you for the kind offer but the game's new graphics won't be ready in time :(. Only a few levels would have been available even if eJagFest was at the end of November.

  • I can't make it on the date set for this year so I hope everybody has a fantastic time. I was planning on showing a demonstration of a new jag game so that'll have to wait for another show now (maybe AC2013?). Its the jag's 20th birthday next year so maybe that is a good thing ;).

  • Zitat von Timmay: „GroovyBee, have you programmed this game with the Raptor-engine? I'm just curious. I have no idea about programming on the the Jag but I guess hat this engine could be a big help for all the home-brewers.“ The game was not programmed using Reboot's RAPTOR system. It is programmed in "C", 68K assembler and GPU assembler. It also uses the u-235 Sound Engine to play MOD music and samples. This is some of the text taken from its information sheet at the Portland Retro Game Expo (l…
