To be honest I thought I'd be the last person in the world to join to rumor mill roller coaster, but its not every day you play 1 vs 1 on OutRun2 SP at your local Sega Park only to be told after the race that the guy I was racing against was one that knows a thing or two about Coast 2 Coast!
It all started with a shake of the hand after I lost the race, but was told how impressive I drove. He said "I could not believe you picked manual gears, you either know what your doing or you dont" and that was with catchup on lol.
I then went onto say the xbox version has taught me alot and then the ball started rolling. I said who I was aka RED SCOPRION and he knew straight away who I was and he stated I was one of the first on OutRun2 XBOX LiVE and knew I was still at it now! I was thinking this was mad!!
Why was it mad?? Because this guy went on to say he is a TOP producer for Sega and is working on Coast to Coast!!
I will not leak his name but here is as much as I can remember of what he said of which he did not mind me blagging!
Coast 2 Coast is OutRun 2 SP and its coming out on XBOX, PS2 and PSP!!
The reason why Sega have not released the news yet is because there are licencening issues with Ferrari and they are being a pian at the moment. We are getting hold of some extra cars with the F430 (we hope) being one of them. At this point he pulled out his Sega Business card and amoung them were two business cards from Bizarre Creations LTD. I said hello whats going on there??? He said I've had a meeting with Bizarre Creations.... (((No more was said about that, but I am now thinking it may of been a meeting with reguards to the Ferrari car licencening, aka PGR3 will have many of the Ferrari cars onboard! Maybe there is also the issue of Microsoft allowing Sony the OutRun franchise, as in because of the Ferrari car licencening.)))
Well there you go, what ever you make of that Ferrari is holding back the offical word from Sega. My source said that Sega will offically announce Coast 2 Coast is finally coming either towards the end of September or in October. The game will not be released until next year aka 2006!
This time around we will have all OutRun2 and SP tracks incluing all in reverse. The Bonus Stages will not be back as he said they caused to many problems with bug's ect...ect.. I guess porting these to PS2 is stopping that???Which lead me to ask how on earth can PS2 fit OutRun2 inside 16meg? He said take a look at SP now, the whole game is 128meg so we only need to load what needs to be loaded. Cuttung down parts so everything fits into xboxes 64meg is the first thing and then we will work on that to get the PS2 to have a more cut down version of that. (((Thinking now..... say lose the real time lighting and mirroring your half way there for a PS2 version...???)))
He said this time Coast 2 Coast will have over 200 XBOX LiVE leader boards. The whole of the arcade mode will also be part of XBOX LiVE.
There will be a new Online Time Attack mode where you race with other people and thier cars are Ghosts.Mission mode will be more Heart Attack like with the challenges being set so one model of car will only be used. As in only one type of car will be used for each challenge....
Yes and I'm sure your wondering!!! Sumo are 'the' team working on Coast 2 Coast right now!!!
My source also knows DarthSol, but did'nt comment any more other than he was the lead producer of PSP V_Tennis. I said he had been getting some stick from us.
Sumo are also looking into having thier own brand of Customized Ferrari's within the game adding some juice beyond what SP noramlly kicks out at. You can guess where some of the 200 leader boards will go now lol.
Some where in the conversation I even said I wish I had a tape recorder lol. This was on the spot stuff, my mind was blank trying to think of things to say yet so much more could of been asked for if I just breath inbetween asking what I was!!!!
My source was pleased to met someone who was as keen on OutRun2 as he was. I even past the comment of how I would love to beta test Coast 2 Coast (as to why I have his business card). As I said this was on the spot stuff but hope at some point to take a trip and see the game in action near release time!! Part of this came about because of the issues with the online scoreboards. He did say Sumo and Sega wanted to patch the the Euro and USA versions but Microsoft would not allow it. (((maybe a case of Microsoft wishing SP comes to xbox???)))
OK.............. Everything I have said or remembered is as honest as can be. I have told you what I was told and please remember it is not offical as of yet so things may change! I can not be held responsible for anything I have said either! I would not jest with you guys, but if any of this turns out to be untrue I would look the fool and thats the last thing I would dream of doing. (((maybe I'm a nob for saying what I have been told, but its nice to know SP in one form or another is coming and thats Coast 2 Coast!!!!...)))
Ob was dran ist oder nicht weiß ich zwar nicht, aber es läßt mich auf die Heimversion von Outrun SP hoffen!!!
