Sonic Unleashed Sega 11/24/08 US
Sonic Unleashed Sega 11/27/08 AU
Sonic Unleashed Sega 11/28/08 EU
Sonic World Adventure Sega 12/18/08 JP

Seit Sonic Adventure 1 bzw.

Night of the Werehog Movie (full version) nun auf dem US FTP zum DL bereitgestellt:
Sonic Unleashed selling out already
Yes, you read the title right. Sonic Unleashed is selling out of stock before the game has even hit launch day. After taking pre-orders for just a couple of months, UK retailer Woolworths ran out of pre-order stock for all versions of the upcoming game that sees our beloved Hedgehog travel the globe. It has been ages since a Sonic title has sold out after launch, never mind before release (not counting Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games), and with Christmas coming up sales can only increase. With good impressions from previewers, fans happy with what they’ve seen so far and now this, Sega might just have a winner on their hands.

. Das wird hart.)
ZitatAlles anzeigenWow, after playing through the first action stages and part of the hub, I'm REALLY impressed. This game is an absolute blast. The stages are FAR more skill based than I had expected. For instance, those straightaway segments appeared to rely entirely on LB and RB button presses, right? I mean, I expected analog control to disappear, but no, you can still move freely during these segments. The LB/RB dashing works anytime you're in 3D (which is great). Hitting all of the jumps and obstacles is nowhere near as easy as it first seemed (and this isn't the result of poor controls). The controls are really quite different from any other 3D Sonic and the game is much more refined.
Having a different button for lock-on jumping/boosting is actually a good thing in this case, believe it or not. It just feels right. Furthermore, the edges of the stage are designed in such a way that you'll never go flinging off the sides by accident. The lock-on jumping itself is also a lot of fun and really works with the rythmn of the game.
The "in-place" motion is also pretty different. The previous 3D Sonic titles had very twitchy, quick motion while Sonic here runs in a much fuller circle and feels more natural (once you get used to it). There's none of the twitchy bullshit from previous 3D games (including SA2).
Honestly, the Windmill Act 2 stage is FAR better than ANY 3D Sonic stage to date. This comes from someone that actually got top grades across the board in SA2 stages.
I can understand why people are skeptical as hell, but really, if you had ANY fun with any previous 3D Sonic (especially SA1 and 2), you must play this.
I should also note that the hub world is beautiful, controls smoothly, and actually features corny, but entertaining dialog (as do all of the cutscenes). The game doesn't take itself too seriously and feels like a fun adventure rather than the drab bullshit from Sonic 2006.
I should also note that the load times are fantastic. They only crop up when it makes sense and are like a fraction of the length as Sonic 2006. I mean, it literally takes 5 seconds or so to enter a main stage. It takes more time to get into a Mario Galaxy level (thanks to all of the extra interface navigation). The levels are also playable from start to finish without a single loading screen. Basically, they learned their lesson. Even the transitions from game to loading screen back to game are smooth as butter (rather than just cutting to a static image like 06).
Yes, I know the Werehog stuff is still to come, but if things keep up as they have, they just have to be better than any of the other non-Sonic stages in previous 3D games.
I can't finish without mentioning the incredible presentation. The visuals are some of the most impressive I've seen in a while. I mean, they really nailed the "CG-like" lighting and everything just feels so smooth. When you get moving quickly and the motion blur is going crazy, it really looks like a pre-recorded movie or something. Really beautiful stuff. Then you have the fantastic soundtrack to back it up.
I can't believe they actually pulled this off! THIS is Sonic Adventure 3. No doubt about it. It plays nothing like the Megadrive games, of course, so don't expect it. It is, however, the most polished, smoothest playing, and most enjoyable 3D Sonic to date.
If you like Sonic Adventure, buy it!
