    About The Ascent on PlayStation

    The rich and vibrant world on the planet Veles has been enhanced even more with the power of PlayStation and the DualSense Controller.

    • Haptic Feedback - Haptic Feedback enhances each interaction and battle in The Ascent. Every type of movement characters make will provide a different sensation, whether it’s shooting, dodging, sneaking. Weapons are dynamic and each gun will feel unique in players’ hands, whether it’s shotguns, energy rifles, blade guns or the mighty rocket launchers.
    • DualSense Controller Speaker - Players can now experience another level of sound within the game via the DualSence Controller Speaker, with the sound of health packs and enemy alerts dropping in the heart of the action and advertisements playing as you roam the neon lined streets in the vast Arcology up close out of the controller speaker.
    • Power of PlayStation 5 - The PlayStation 5 hardware means The Ascent will be hitting 4K 60 FPS, so players can experience the beautiful world of Veles in high definition.

    In addition to these PlayStation 5 specific features, both the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 4 versions of the game will include all the amazing additions the developers have added to The Ascent since the July launch on PC and Xbox platforms, including:

    • Photo Mode
    • New Game+
    • Transmogrification
    • Free DLC packs with their unique new weapons, skins and cosmetics.
    • The Ascent benefits from cross-buy on PlayStation platforms (buy on PlayStation 4 and obtain the PlayStation 5 version for free and vice versa).

    Currently, there is no cross play between the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions of The Ascent, but this feature is currently being worked on and will be available to players in the coming months.

    Nach gefühlten Ewigkeiten heute auch endlich mal in The Ascent eingestiegen. Direkt mit @Ut_for_Angel im Coop gestartet, der bisher auch noch nicht reingeschaut hatte.

    Dürften ca. 3h gewesen sein, die wir bisher gespielt haben. Das Game an sich macht auf jeden Fall Bock und ist nochmal deutlich vielseitiger, als ich dachte. Es gibt einiges an Loot, Skills, Waffen, Leveln, Main- und Side Quests usw, das geht schon deutlich in Richtung Action RPG oder so.

    Wir zocken beide auf der Series X und da sieht das Spiel an sich auch super aus. Für ein so kleines Entwicklerteam echt eine Hausnummer. :)
    Leider gibt's aber auch heute noch einiges an sehr (!) nervigen Bugs. Kleiner Auszug:

    - zwei Mal in das Game komplett gecrasht.
    - es gab ab und zu einen Soundbug, wo es sich anhörte, als würde durchgehend eine Maschinenpistole abgefeuert.
    - dann konnte ich zwei Mal nichts mehr auswählen, also weder irgendwas an Loot aufsammeln noch überhaupt ins Menü gelangen.
    - bei uns beiden ist es vorgekommen, dass Gespräche mit NPCs nicht weiter gingen und jeweils einer von uns sozusagen im Gespräch feststeckte.
    - einmal konnte ich nur noch rückwärts laufen, weil mein Charakter nach einem NPC Gespräch weiter diesen NPC fokussiert hat. Konnte mich weder drehen noch sonst irgendwas machen.
    - im Coop läuft ist nicht ganz rund. Es hat schon auffällig oft geruckelt.

    Das waren jetzt die gröbsten Bugs in wie schon erwähnt gerade einmal drei Stunden... :D
    Aber Spaß hatten wir trotzdem und werden auch weiterzocken. Hoffentlich kommen da aber noch ein paar Fixes.

    PS4 und PS5 Versionen sind ja inzwischen digital auch raus, und auf PS5 werden lustigerweise exakt dieselben kleinen Probleme der Xbox Series X übernommen. Im grafischen Bereich insbesondere der kleine Sprung nach vorne, den Charaktere manchmal machen, als werden ein paar Frames übersprungen.

    Von den Abstürzen usw hat DF nicht berichtet, aber wenn die sonstige Technik derart identisch ist, werden sie diese schlimmeren Bugs wohl auch übernommen haben.

    Na ja, ich bin trotzdem interessiert. Sieht schon nice aus. Aber ich warte noch auf die Retail Ende Mai, es sei denn das Game wird vorher digital absolut verschleudert, was ich nicht annehme.

    Daran haben wir auch gedacht und konnten uns kaum ausmalen, wie es wohl die ersten Wochen ausgesehen haben muss. :lol:

    Am Abend lief nun der Abspann vom Game. @Ut_for_Angel und ich haben uns tatsächlich durch das Spiel gequält und neben den Main Missions immerhin auch noch 24 von 28 Nebenmissionen beendet.

    Spaß hatten wir auf alle Fälle, das kann man nicht leugnen. Die Bugs und auch das allgemeine Game Design ziehen das Spiel aber schon deutlich runter. Die im Post weiter oben angesprochenen Bugs sind vor allem keine Einzelfälle, sondern treten quasi alle immer mal wieder auf. Dadurch mussten wir das Spiel sehr (!) oft neu starten und länger als 2.5h am Stück haben wir es meistens nicht ausgehalten.. :D
    Dazu das Game Design, was einem den letzten Nerv rauben kann. Ewig lange Walking Passagen sind hier die Regel. Vieles lässt sich zwar mit dem Taxi und/oder Ubahn abkürzen, gelaufen wird trotzdem Kilometer für Kilometer. Auch ist der Schwierigkeitsgrad nicht optimal gebalanced sondern schwankt sowohl nach oben als auch unten extrem.

    Insgesamt bleibt The Ascent ein gutes Spiel, verschenkt aber unheimlich viel Potential und ist selbst nach zig Patches noch immer voller nerviger Bugs.

    Am Ende würde ich eine 7.5/10 geben.

    Die beschriebenen Probleme müssen irgendwie schon mit dem Coop zusammenhängen. Als ich es vor ein paar Wochen Solo beendet habe, hatte ich zwar den ein oder anderen Bug (Soundaussetzer, 1-2 Crashes) aber ansonsten war alles OK. Zumindest Solo Zocker sollten sich nicht abschrecken lassen. Mir hat das Game super gefallen.

    Ich hatte auch ein paar Bugs, konnte es aber dank der Patches abschließen.
    Freu mich auf nem Story-DLC und auf ein paar neue Erfolge.
    für mich eine der Überraschungen im Gamepass des letztens Jahres. Tolles Spiel.
