Team17 has revealed the first details of Worms Rumble, the brand-new instalment in the iconic and multi-award-winning Worms franchise, which this year celebrates its 25th anniversary. Announced today for PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and PC, and set for a late 2020 launch, Worms Rumble will be the first game in the series to feature real-time combat and multi-platform cross-play, with up to 32 players able to take part in matches in a range of arena maps, including a multi-levelled shopping mall – complete with its own ballistic missile silo.
Registration is now open for players to participate in a closed beta of Worms Rumble on Steam, which begins on Wednesday 15^th July at 12pm BST and runs through to Monday 20^th July at 8am BST. The beta gives players their first chance to take part in the next stage of the Worms real-time revolution.

Worms Rumble will be fully-supported by ongoing, content updates featuring new arenas and customisations. Players will be able to level up their Worm and progress through the ranks, earning new weapons skins and character customisations, accessories and emotes as they go. Today’s announcement reveals some of the weapons making their way into Worms Rumble at launch later this year, including the Baseball Bat, Hand Cannon, Bazooka, Assault Rifle, and Shotgun.

Worms Rumble features:

• Worms goes real-time: Every round is in REAL TIME. When enemies rain down fire, unleash heck right back!
• Up-to-32-player, cross-platform multiplayer: Play across PlayStation generations and PC, with Deathmatch and Last Worm Standing solo and squad battle royale modes available at launch
• Classic Weapons/New Ways to Play: Arm Worms with new and returning fan-favourite weapons, including the Bazooka, Holy Hand Grenade, and Hand Cannon
• Events, Challenges and ‘The Lab’: Take part in seasonal events, daily and community challenges, and experiment with new gameplay mechanics and weapons in ‘The Lab’.
• Player Customisations: Earn XP and in-game currency to unlock and purchase weapon skins, outfits, accessories and emotes. Players create their personal style for the battlefield.

Team17 is today announcing a bumper airdrop of Worms Rumble news, confirming a PlayStation®/PC crossplay beta from 6th November, and a full release for the strategic real-time action game on PlayStation®5, PlayStation®4, and PC in December.

The latest instalment in the multi-award-winning franchise, Worms Rumble features fast-paced, relentless skirmishes for up to 32 players per match across a variety of modes including Deathmatch and Squads. Pre-orders for Worms Rumble on Steam is now available for $14.99/£10.99/€14.99, providing access to the ‘New Challenger’ pack, featuring a cache of exclusive cosmetic items.

The second map coming to Worms Rumble at launch – Portal Park – is also being revealed today. An arena featuring a fantastical portal that can change the environment in dramatic ways, Portal Park also includes underground traintracks that provide rapid transit to other parks of the map. The announcement of Portal Park follows on from the reveal of Missile Mall in the summer, which takes place in a huge, sprawling shopping mall complete with ballistic missile. Fan favourite gadgets, including Grapple Guns and the Jet Pack are also making a return ready for players to traverse the maps and get the edge over the competition.

Access to a plethora of exclusive cosmetic items, including; an outfit, beanie, skin pattern, baseball bat skin, player banner, and challenge title, is now available through pre-orders on Steam. The ‘New Challenger’ bonus pack will provide PC players with the option to further finetune their Worms Rumble look as they fight for victory. Further cosmetic items will be available and unlocked as players progress through the ranks, including different hats and glasses, bringing a wide variety of customisation options so each Worm can be fashionably unique in the arena.

Team17 has today completed docking procedures and launched Worms Rumble, the first real-time action instalment in the beloved, multi-award-winning Worms series, onto Nintendo Switch, Epic Games Store, and on Xbox Series X|S and Xbox One (via the Microsoft Store and Xbox Game Pass. The release of the game, which first launched on PlayStation consoles and Steam for PC in November last year, will coincide with the availability of a brand-new and free arena – Spaceport Showdown – across all platforms.

Worms Rumble key features:

• Fast-paced, arena action: Open fire in six varied arenas in up-to-32-player, real-time combat across five solo and team-based game modes, including Deathmatch, Team Deathmatch, and the battle royale mode, Last Worm Standing
• Take aim across the platforms: Take on friends, frenemies, and unfamiliars whatever the platform, with cross-play matchmaking
• Make your Worm its own: Choose and unlock over 1000 options to full customise your worm, from outfits and hats, to eye colour and teeth shape; further personalise the weapons they wield with additional skins to unlock
• Lock and load your arsenal: Crates across the arenas contain a host of weapons and items, including fan favourites like the Sheep Launcher, Holy Hand Grenade, and Grapple Gun.
• Regular Lab events: The time-limited event Lab mode provides preset maps, weapons, and gameplay mechanics for players to master and unlock new skins
