Sony endet Disc-Produktion ab Januar 2028

    As consumer preferences and the broader entertainment industry continue to shift away from physical discs to digital, physical game disc production for all new games releasing on PlayStation consoles will be discontinued starting January 2028. Following this date, new games will be available on PlayStation Store and at retailers in digital formats only. This transition has no impact on games that already released, or will be releasing, prior to January 2028 in disc format.

    This is a natural direction for Sony Interactive Entertainment to adapt to consumer trends as the general preference for digital media significantly outpaces physical discs. This transition will enable us to align more closely with how most of our community prefers to access and play games today.

    We’ll continue to prioritize our resources to drive innovation in how players can access games and provide choices as to where players prefer to purchase new games, whether that’s at retailers or PlayStation Store. We remain committed to delivering a world-class gaming experience to our fans and we thank you for your continued support.

    Endlich. Abseits aller "Gebrauchtmarkt-Pfennigfuchserei u Wiederverkauf unmöglich, buhuu" und "in droelf Jahren kann ich's nit mehr zocken, wenn die sonyserver down sein werden, Gott hilf uns bitte!" Zeterei wird die Sache ein was Gutes zB für Foren, aber auch Zockerei generell haben: diejenigen user, die hier "mitziehen" u nit "aussteigen", werden sich vllcht wieder über die Spielinhalte unterhalten u nicht wie immer den hundertdroelften "wann kommt retail?" post ertragen, bzw deren Derivate, wie "Wo kann man bestellen?", "Ohweh, meine collectors Mikropenisverlängerung hat ne Delle i-wo!" usw.


    Aber ja, ich werd wohl gametechnisch aussteigen, hab genug stuff zum Zocken. Über games Lesen wird mir hier dann aber wohl mehr Unterhaltung bringen, wenn dann noch jmd hier ist :ray2:


    Die hardcore-retards werden sich jetzt schön auf big n crap stürzen, solange die noch Speichermedien raushauen :bday:

    So viel zum Thema, Sony wird auch in Zukunft nicht auf Discs verzichten können.


    Kaum hat Sony wieder ein quasi Monopol durch den Struggle von MS, gehen sie wieder auf absolute Gewinnmaximierung.

    Ja, aber wenn man delistete Spiele gekauft hat, bevor sie entfernt wurden, kann man sie immer noch runterladen und spielen. Dies ist bei den Filmen/Serien nicht der Fall.

    Achso, ich Henner dachte, zB das Afterburner könne man auch in solchem Falle nicht nochmal herunterladen, hatte da mal sowas gehört.

    Tja was heißt das nun? Ich werde sehr wahrscheinlich auf eine weitere PS Konsole verzichten. Limited Games werden nach 2028 vermehrt für die Switch 2 erscheinen. Sony wird einiges an Hardware Verkaufszahlen einbüßen. Preise für Retroospiele werden drastisch ansteigen.
